At Chatham’s Career Development Office, we’re here to help you take the next step, and the next next step. We'll advise you in one-on-one appointments to maximize your job search skills, develop dynamite resumes and cover letters, and ace your job interviews.

Individual Consultations & Workshops

We offer individual consultations on a range of topics including those listed below. In addition, we offer presentations and workshops that can be tailored to a group, class, or field of study. Our full event schedule is available on Handshake to current Chatham students and alumni.

  • Internship preparation

  • Interview skills and preparation including informational interviewing and mock interviews

  • Graduate school planning

  • Networking and using LinkedIn; mentorship; job search strategies; professional onboarding

  • Promotions and negotiations

  • Professional goal-setting

  • Developing and articulating your professional identity

Drop-in appointments are available Mondays-Fridays from 9:00am-5:00pm. Check in with the Student Assistant at the front desk to see if a staff member would be available. Drop-in appointments are 15 minutes and if further support is needed the Student Assistant can assist with scheduling a traditional appointment.


Life Design

Life Design is a career development process by which we learn to write our careers and lives as a story. Using life design strategies can allow us to discover life narratives, create meaning, and identify actions to move toward our goals for work and life.

In addition to professional skills development, we also offer a range of methods through which students can clarify their values, increase their awareness and ability for self-reflection, and fortify their self-knowledge in pursuit of a fulfilling life. We can help you put this model to use through:

  • Guiding you in exploring your strengths, interests, skills, values, and goals to prepare you to define your professional identity and gain meaningful experience. 

  • Using assessments and reflection exercises to define the professional impact you want to have and will help you better understand the types of professional environments that may be best for you (can be tailored to specific field of study, group, or experience) 

  • Equipping you with equip you with tools and resources for expanding a professional network, identifying internship and applied learning and work experiences to build on strengths and skills, develop new knowledge and competencies, and build a portfolio of experience to build from.
